January News

Dear Tenants:

Last week, I had an opportunity to speak to an old timer who has berthed at Willow Berm Marina for 40 years.  He had nice things to say bout the Riverboat, particularly the quality of the food, the restaurant’s cleanliness, and the overall ambieance of the place — good stuff!  He also mentioned that he didn’t know that the Riverboat Marina had nice covered berths, and that we need to modernize our overall approach to letting people know what is here, when businesses are open, etc.  This was a friend trying to help a friend.

Laura and I got the message, and  over the next months or so, you too will be learning things about this marina that you never realized before.  Part of this includes building a Marina distribution list populated with your emails (we promise no abuse).  Please email Debra (debra@deltaboatworks.com) with your current email address so that we make sure we have the correct information.

An attempt is being made to get the hyacinth and various forms of algae under control.  One attempt involved taking our kids, Greg and Xander, into “volunteering” to pull out or otherwise cut off the miserable stuff!  Another involved dragging a chain along the bottom behind a work boat, and the last involved the Department of Boating & Waterways people who sprinkled special herbicide pellets throughout much of the marina.  Over the next few weeks we should hopefully see less of the algae.

Laura and I attended our Marina’s weekly wine tasting event in the Marina’s Clubhouse on a Friday in August from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  The wine was good and the company was excellent!  It provided a way for people to network, and at the same time, discuss matters of mutual concern.  One such matter was brought up by Bob Eschenbaum from “G” Shed who said that he and his wife love their berth, but her personally dislikes the name of the shed.  Debra poured more wine, and it was decided that Bob would be a committee of one who would speak to others in the shed about a better and more creative name.  Not sure where this is headed, but at least it provides one reason to taste a little wine every Friday through the summer months.

The inside of each shed has been sprayed for spiders using a safe and benign mixture designed for such use.  IN addition, about 80 boxes used for rat and mice control have been installed to help remove a trouble making life form.

Moore’s Riverboat Restaurant seems to be off to a good start.  Lots of positive comments about the quality of the food and the way the restaurant now feels.  Please try it if you haven’t already.  As a Discover The Delta Foundation Member, you receive 10% off your food — just bring your card!

Laura and I look forward to chatting with each of you whenever possible.

Sincerely,
Ken & Laura Scheidegger
